I grew up in a conservative Christian family. My favorite Bible verse as a teen, Philippians 4:11, has been one I return to at each different stage of life:

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.

It is a good mindset for someone approaching four years of retirement. Learn to be content. Dear God, help me focus on the blessings. At a time when everyone seems to relish complaining, be content.

We are now two years into Mexico Life, we being me and 404 subscribers. 92 posts. And a key group of paid subscribers who keep me going. To all of you I say, gracias.

My mother, bless her heart, warned me when she found out I had fallen in love with a Mexican lady that I should be careful, “I could end up living in Mexico.” By the end of her life, after having lived here for several six-month stretches, the only place she wanted to be was Mexico! Specifically, Morelia, Michoacan, surrounded by her NOE English students and teachers.
