If I mention the phrase “turquoise blue water” in relation to Mexico, most people think of Cancun and the Caribbean. Yet there is an area inland roughly between Mexico City and Monterrey called the Huasteca Potosina, filled with turquoise blue rivers and waterfalls (“Potosina” refers to the state San Luis Potosí where this area is located). The ideal time to visit is between January and June, before the summer rains muddy the waters. I picked some of my favorite images from this area to whet your appetite:
